The New Awesome Game! app for iPhone and iPad

­This game was created by nine 3rd and 4th grade students in San Francisco as part of a video game design class. The game elements, including the story, graphics, music and initial programming, were created by the 3rd and 4th grade students. Teachers and advisors assisted the students in the graphic design, programming and publishing of the game. The children learned and used Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Garage Band and GameSalad to develop a video game titled “The New Awesome”. The “New Awesome” game is produced as a STEMKIDS.JOBS TM branded game.

The storyline, as written by the children whom developed the game, follows.

“THE WORLD IS IN GRAVE DANGER. It is a long time ago, the world is polluted from toxic factories. Bacteria is raining down form the black smoggy sky. People are at risk of dying.

Your Mission: Use your avatar to save your future self from the lethal bacteria raining down for the sky….hurry, it might be too late…”

The game is a basic shooter game-mechanics, with the avatar/robot using a laser gun to shoot down raining bacteria to save the burning man.

The game is published under the STEMKIDS.JOBS trademark as a series of games produced by children, while learning STEM-based skills. This is a fermium game. It is the students first game produced and published. Assistance in publishing the final game was provided by Dr. Mary Jean Koontz (Producer), Mr. Kenan Ozdamar (Programmer) and Sheila Cahill (Graphic Designer); thanks to the team for producing the kids game. This game is a true testament to the hard work and skills of young creators in San Francisco; we hope young children everywhere will be inspired by this creation.
